On the first day of Christmas

I originally created this image for a client, but they ended up not using it. I thought to re-purpose it since the season is right :)

Exciting news! I have very happy to say that the company I work for, Textile Republic has just launched their brand spankin new website. TR is an online community of artists and designers who submit their patterns for the chance to win $$$. Patterns have 30 days to get 100 Facebook 'likes.' Is a chance for designers to get exposure and for shoppers to buy cool products with really pretty patterns! So glad that everything is functioning and looking great!

Recently the BF and I had the chance to visit Oglebay in West Virginia. So beautiful! We were asked to make a T-Shirt design for his familyattending and this is what we came up with:

I had a lot  fun designing this. I <3 the bird. Makes me think of a partridge in a pear tree!

Also started working on a new children's book! It's a lot of fun and I LOVE the story. This is Pete. He is a popcorn kernel:

Can't give away the story though, or else you won't buy it!

Airplanes in the night sky

I've been coming up with T-shirt designs for a company that sells products to pilots! Doesn't that sound bizarre? These are what I came up with and I really like how some of the turned out!! You can click on this picture and it enlarges to bigger one so you can see all the details :) I think my favorite is the paper airplane A is for Airplane though I don't think it will be chosen.

Love Birds

This is my first time trying to 'sketch' in illustrator and I'm not even sure if I'm 100% happy with the results, but it's pretty fun and quick. I'm pretty sure this is gonna become a regular thing. My thought process is that I want to make these or something like these into a repeat pattern. I'm thinking more leaves and foliage later. How cool would something like this be on a picture frame or coasters?

The Springtime Fairy

An E-Book I just illustrated for MeeGenius is now on the web for sale!

Wow, okay, attempt at keeping a blog=fail. I've been a busy little illustrator! I'd post come pics of what I've been working on but...I'd then have to kill you. Dun dun DUN. I've been working on this e-book that will be published by MeeGenius. I will provide a link once it is published online!

I do have some random sketches I found in my sketch pad.

This is Harvey. He's a shy bird.
This is...a sad fish? I went through a phase of drawing sad little creatures. At least this little guy doesn't have a tear drop like the others.

Web Site Designs

A couple weeks ago, my boss asked me to redo his engagement website. I didn't really think much of it and shrugged it off. I probably waited a little too long to begin working on this but I thought I'd share my progress from tonight. I actually got into it and like where this is headed. Obviously I had fun making the pattern! So what I made would be the banner and the text will go beneath.
Hopefully I'll be able to give you an update later on this week with more images from a book I've been working on!

First SCBWI conference!

Inspired recently from my very first SCBWI conference, I have decided to create this blog with the purpose of documenting my illustration work and sharing any sort of inspiration that leads to its creation. If there is anyone reading who is on the fence about attending, I would highly recommend it! I had a lot of fun and many of the speakers during the workshops and panel discussions gave great advance for aspiring as well as accomplished children's book writers and illustrators!

Below is an piece I worked on for a while that I feel like sharing. The book is titled Running Boy. This is the opening illustration, with the main character, Running Boy, leaving home and beginning a jog. I will post more images as they come...
